Days of interdisciplinary education for teachers in Kyiv and Lviv

When we think of days filled with master-classes by the experts in their field of education – it’s the days of interdisciplinary education in Inernational Educational Centre INSIGHT, the “brain centre” for education and methodology in CISC. More than 70 educators from 10 regions of Ukraine studied together with us during several days.

What we discussed in Kyiv and Lviv

About SMART-education and integration in junior school: why is it important to develop the children’s talents and independence; how effective can be the teaching methods based upon the principles of “teaching how to learn” and “adaptation to the changing life”.

Together with the teachers, we discussed the methods for implementation of integrated education – when a scientific phenomenon is regarded from the perspective of different disciplines. We became 100% confident in the advantages of comprehensive studies and analyzed the practical examples of adaptation.

Junior school teachers Viktoria Tynok and Lidia Fisunova, told us about design thinking and the methods of teaching philosophy for children.

The participants learned that design thinking is a whole philosophy, a culture, a system of instruments for solving any types of problems.

We analyzed each stage of design thinking, discussed its role in science and human life. And we also discussed the examples of amazing scientific discoveries and unusual startups created via this method. The teachers shared their practical cases of developing the students’ design thinking during the lesson.

At philosophy master-class Ms Lidia and Ms Viktoria revealed the secret of “the power of questions”. Correct questions help form a personality. The participants went on a philosopihic journey. The teachers suggested their own instruments and alternative models of conducting a philosophy lesson in junior school.

Together with school psychologist Iulia Lykholit, we discussed the counteraction against bullying in school, analyzed the conflict-solving within school, analyzed the cases: how to make an unconventional lesson “I am a Personality” and to attract the students’ interest within the first 15(!) seconds.
